Artist Note
"This piece was created at a time I was leaving all behind because as an immigrant, I no longer felt safe in the U.S. under such oppressive Administration. This piece, like many of my other ones, is a statement of resistance, as a visual reminder that we all belong here—no matter where we come from, what language we speak, or how different we feel. The butterflies and plants represent the diversity of our stories.
This piece helped reaffirm myself at a time I didn't feel like a belonged. The bilingual phrase “We All Belong: Pertenecemos” is intentional. I wanted it to feel like a bridge, especially for families, classrooms, and community spaces where multiple cultures and languages live together. My hope is that this print hangs in places where people need to be reminded that their presence matters."
