"This is one of my favorite pieces, a statement of resistance. As an immigrant Latina in the U.S., I've lived most of my life with the label of being "illegal." Growing up, I let this label define and confine me in so many ways but as I grew older, I learned that we're more than our immigration status, that even though it limited so many opportunities for me, I could still rise above it. The truth is no one is illegal, especially on stolen land. We may be undocumented because the immigration system is indeed broken, but it doesn't mean we're 'illegal.'
 
So, I hope this piece helps reaffirm you if you share the same identity I've had for so long, that you can embrace who you are and be proud to be an immigrant. Perhaps, you don't share this identity but care deeply with people in your community who do.
